On Friday nights, I DJ at Mulberry St. Ristorante in downtown Fullerton, usually with my friend Phil Higson. We call our DJ nights "The Anti-Club" because, unlike most bars in the area, we don't play the usual "club hits" from the radio. We think that is really boring. Instead, we play music from our personal collections--music we like and think is good and worth sharing. It could be a punk song from the 1970s. It could be 90s political hip hop. It could be the latest release from a local band, whose show we recently saw. We take our DJing seriously. We are like curators of music, and are endlessly searching for good new music to share. Last night, as Phil and I were DJing, we wrote down each song we chose, to share with people, and give a sense of the kind of stuff we like. Here's our set list from last night. The band is listed first, followed by the song title. You can click on some of the tracks to listen to them. Enjoy!
