Yesterday, I went to a fun art workshop at Artside Studio in the Magoski Arts Colony. It was a brief course in making Andy Warhol-style prints. Led by the artist Anna Hansen, we learned how to make collograph prints, a unique printing form that builds up a surface with materials to create a texture or image. We got to make our own versions of classic Warhol pop-art images: Marilyn Monroe, a banana, and some flowers. We made our artwork to a soundtrack of The Velvet Underground, a band who had a close relationship with Warhol.
Artside Studio is located at 223 W. Santa Fe Ave. Fullerton, CA, inside the Magoski Arts Colony. Visit www.artsidestudio.org for information on upcoming workshops.
