1.) Don't be boring.
2.) Be honest.
I try to follow these rules as best I can. As a result, my writing can get pretty personal. It might offend some people. But telling the truth, as a writer, is one of the best things you can do. The poet John Keats wrote, "Beauty is truth, truth beauty. That's all you know on earth, and all you need to know."
