Parquet Courts + White Fence @ The Fonda Theatre

Last night I went to a rock concert in Hollywood with my friend Landon.  We went to see the bands Parquet Courts and White Fence at the historic Fonda Theater.   It was built in the 1920s and has a fantastic "old Hollywood" feel, inside and out.  The theater was named after the actor Henry Fonda, who famously portrayed Tom Joad in the film adaptation of The Grapes of Wrath.

White Fence are a mix of psychedelic rock, punk, and other influences I couldn't quite pinpoint.  They are very groovy.

Between sets, these two girls were DJing in an awesome alcove at "stage left."  Landon and I agreed that it would be fun to DJ at the Henry Fonda.  "Add it to your bucket list," Landon said.

When Parquet Courts took the stage, the energy in the room was palpable.  It was a full house.  Everyone was ready to rock out, and that is exactly what we did.  Parquet Courts did not disappoint.  If I had to compare Parquet Courts to other bands, I would compare them to Pavement, The Minutemen, and The Modern Lovers.

I would highly recommend going to see Parquet Courts and/or White Fence, if you get the chance.
