35mm Photographs

A few years back, my dad gave me his 1984 Minolta film camera, and I started taking lots of pictures. I like this camera because it is not "automatic." You have to adjust the f-stop, focus it by hand, check the light reading.

My dad once told me that photography is all about light. Taking pictures with this old camera taught me about how to capture and use light to make images. Most of my artwork and writing is about trying to capture the "ordinary" with all its beauty and ugliness. I really believe that if we look carefully enough, we will discover that what we take for granted as "ordinary" is actually quite extraordinary.
